Edge node for collaborative environmental and agronomic research

Quokka hosts ingestion pipelines, geospatial services, and long-term archival for consortium projects. Authenticated partners use this endpoint for sync jobs, dashboards, and automated health checks.

Public web: marketing and status content only. Dataset access and APIs are opened through institutional single sign-on; enrolment is handled by each partner organisation.

What runs on this host

Quokka is one of several regional nodes in the Fanap Lab mesh. Capacity is reserved for approved workloads; bursty public traffic is shaped so partner batch jobs stay predictable.

Telemetry & sensors

Buffered MQTT and file-drop endpoints for field devices, with checksum verification before promotion to cold storage.

Geospatial tiles

Vector and raster tile caches for web GIS clients; projections aligned with national grid references used in partner grants.

Collaboration

Shared staging buckets and notebook sandboxes — isolated per project, with audit trails retained for 24 months.
